Becoming a speech/drama teacher was an easy choice for me as I was a competitor in both debate and
forensics in high school and college. I was also extensively involved in drama productions at Union City Senior High
School and Western Michigan University. I love what I teach and enjoy watching my students gain confidence and
control over their stage fright throughout the year. I feel fortunate to have a job I look forward to each day.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, Laura, a recent graduate of Bowling
Green University in music performance with a concentration in opera, and my son Travis, a 1st Lieutenant in the Army and a
graduate student at Kansas State University. Sheba the cat, Kooper, my standard poodle and Bumpkin,
my miniature driving horse round out the family. For fun, I play the piano and sing, take long walks with
Kooper, and curl up on the couch with a good book. My passion for scrapbooking is evident as bookshelves in my home
are filled with completed albums of Laura, vacations, and school.
Each year I have much fun attending athletic events, band and choir concerts.
